The Jeep Compass is a young element at the Jeep Family. It was introduced in 2006 as a 2007 model year, and it has the particularity of being among Jeep’s first efforts at the crossover SUV market.
While it may not be ‘equipped-to-the-teeth’, the 2019 Jeep Compass has a very concise, useful set of equipment, that will fulfill every passenger needs.
This is a capable, practical vehicle, ideal for the whole family. The adults will enjoy the intituive controls, the fun ride and driving sense; while the young ones will appreciate its confyness and entertainment capabilites, making the ‘are we there yets’? in long trips a thing of the past.
Also, has an standout off road capability, making it ideal for an adventure at the woods or the beach.
Little but ‘up-to-the-task’ engine
The 2019 Jeep Compass offers four trims (more on that a few lines below).
They all have the same engine in common, a little -but practical and useful- 2.4 liter four cylinder, that reaches 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque.
It should be noted that all trims are equipped with front-wheel drive; but almost all of them can be equipped with all wheel drive (the Trailhawk version has AWD already by default).
The transmission varies depending on the trim. Most of the versions have a six-speed or a nine-speed automatic transmission, but it should be mentioned that a six-speed manual gearbox is also available on the Sport and Latitude trims.
According to the EPA, the Compass’ fuel economy is estimated between 22 and 23 mpgs in the city and between 30 and 32 mpgs on the higway -depending on the kind of transmission and drive.
Equipped for everyone
Let’s explore all the equipment and details that the four different Compass trims have to offer.
The first one is the Sport trim. Among its traits are the A/C, 16 inch wheels, a 7 inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth, a six-speaker sound system and a USB port, just to mention some examples.
The next one of the bunch, the Latitude version, gets what I just mentioned -with larger wheels- and adds upgraded cloth and leatherette seats, a steering wheel covered in leather, keyless access and ignition and more.
The third trim, the Limited, includes, among other accesories, satellite radio, automatic dual-zone climate control, 18-inch wheels, remote start, leather upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, an 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen (compatible with Apple and Android smartphones systems) and more, making it the most complete trim among the four available.
Finally, we have the Trailhawk. It has 17-inch wheels, terrain modes, red tow hooks, its only available with All Wheel Drive with a nine-speed automatic transmission and also has very particular exterior aesthetic traits, among other details.
Ask about the different optional accesories, such as sunroof, navigation system, premium audio system and more.
Behind the wheel
The 2019 Jeep Compass has a decent acceleration, but another vehicles in this segment have more to offer in this subject. The steering wheel is fairly easy to handle, and all-around, this vehicle stands its ground either driving it on the highways and urban streets or rough terrain, making it a very versatile SUV. You won’t regret taking it into the wild.
With a concise, useful set of accesories, and a capable engine that is responsive and dynamic in urban areas or in off-road terrains, the 2019 Jeep Compass has everything you and your family need for urban commute, long travels or a little adventure.
