FAST AND STRONG
When it comes to driving experiences in Florida, it doesn’t get any better than being behind the wheel on a convertible.
The wind blowing through your hair, the sun kissing your skin and being in contact with the everyday vibrancy of the streets is only possible by driving a topless car, such as the convertible 2018 Nissan 370Z, a two seater.
Even though it has only received only minor or few updates since it was released in 2009, the Nissan 370Z has been -well, still is- a very decent convertible sports car, with a strong engine and well developed drivability.
It is also available as a coupe, offering five trims; and it offers three trims as a convertible; but every variation possible is equipped with a 3.7-liter V6 engine, mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed automatic transmission.
The engine gives us 332 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque.
Talking about the 370Z’s fuel economy, the EPA estimates it around 18 miles per gallon in the city and 25 miles per gallon on the highway, with the automatic transmission.
With the manual transmission, the fuel efficiency is around 19/26 mpg.
Back to basics
As I said before, being behind the wheel of a convertible sports car in Florida is a one of a kind experience. With the 2018 Nissan 370Z, the highway is your playground.
Going through lanes, passing cars, pretty much just enjoying the road, are just a delight in this beauty.
This is a sports car for the purists, devoid of high-tech trinkets that are more flair than actual use.
It is a car, as I said, to be enjoyed, to be pushed around and used around… a sports car, period.
We get summer performance tires mounted on 18 inch wheels in the base trim, also, LED running lights and taillights and automatic xenon headlights.
Cruise control, automatic climate control, keyless ignition and entry, Bluetooth phone connectivity, and a six-speaker sound system with a CD player and an auxiliary audio jack complete the basic interior of the 2018 Nissan 370Z.
It is worth to note a nice, sporty touch: The leather-wrapped steering wheel, that will make you feel as a car racing pro.
Drivability and interior
This is a car of quick acceleration, especially on highways, as I said before.
The steering is steady, but could be perceived as numb by some drivers. It also gives us a firm suspension, which also can be translated as a firm ride.
All of these are traits that pretty much abound in the sports car segment, so there’s nothing to be worried about.
If you want a sports car that gives you a satisfactory acceleration, and pure driving experience, with just a few of today’s technologies, the 2018 Nissan 370Z is the right car for you.
