Gorgeous & Agile
During my research, previous to my 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia test drive, this beauty kept showing up as the first place or in the top three lists on different luxury small cars and best sport sedans rankings, and it just earned my curiosity.
Now, having driving it myself, I know where all the praise and celebration go.
Sporty and beautiful
The Italian carmaker is a powerhouse in car racing since more than a century ago, a perk that translates perfectly to its sporty commercial vehicles.
The 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia exterior has that European flair that will make you feel like a movie star, a presence that just demands to turn heads, on the streets or on the highway.
It is attractive. It is beautiful. It is distinctive. It is handsome. And, if all this wasn’t enough, it is agile and powerful.
This jewel is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that outputs 280 horsepower and 306 pound-feet, mated to an automatic eight-speed transmission.
Its fuel economy is estimated at 24 miles per gallon in the city and 33 miles per gallon on the highway.
Now, it should be noted that there are six trims available: Giulia (the one I drove), Giulia Sport, Ti, Ti Sport, Tia Lusso and Quadrifoglio. The last one, being a high-performance car, has a 2.9-liter V6 engine under the hood, and I hope we’ll review it later.
Coming back to the Giulia, in the devices front, it has everything one needs and everything one wants.
It features leather upholstery, a driver information display, remote keyless ignition and entry, power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, adjustable drive models, a 6.5-inch central display, an audio system with eight speakers with three USB ports and voice commands.
On the outside, you’ll find automatic wipers, all-season tires -mounted on 17 inch alloy wheels- a rearview camera and rear parking sensors, just to name a few of the key features.
It should be noted that there are several optional feature packages.
Free as a bird
As I noted before, this is an agile car, especially in a well paved highway. The steering is accurate and responsive; there are no problems in this front.
No fun in the back
On the other hand, the ones that may suffer are the passengers in the back seats. There is not enough room for average or tall adults in the back, a downside that is suffered by most sport cars. Also, the back can be especially noisy.
This is the choice for those who want power and European flair. The 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia demands attention, and this demand will be met.
