The 2018 Genesis G90, a full size four-door luxury sedan, is a young fella. Its production started in 2015, and its model year started in 2017.
From then to now, in this timespan it has cemented itself as a good -even tough- competitor among its peers, regardless of its early age.
The Genesis G90 is like the rookie that takes the football field among seasoned veterans, that cannot help but to be astonished at the new guy’s agility, ability, dynamism and even looks.
It is a handsome, elegant, classy car, but it is also a vehicle that is well equipped and offers a fine performance. Let’s take a look at the 2019 Genesis G90.
You can choose between two engines.
The first one is a 3.3L twin-turbo V6, a pretty little beast that delivers 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque.
It should be noted that you can pick it either with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
According to the EPA, the fuel economy of this engine is estimated at 17 miles per gallon in the city and 24 miles per gallon on the highway, numbers that are pretty much the same no matter if you go with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
The second engine is a monster. We are talking about a 5.0L V8 that achieves 420 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. Like the one before, it also can be equipped with RWD or AWD.
The gas mileage with this engine is estimated at 15/16 mpg city and 23/24 mpg highway, depending in the kind of drive that you choose.
By the way, no matter what engine you get, the 2019 Genesis G90 will be equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The designers at Genesis Headquarters spared no expense when it came to the car’s features.
The 2019 Genesis G90 includes LED headlamps, LED daytime running lights, LED outside mirror repeaters, dual mufflers, double sound-proof glass on all windows, a power door system, smart trunk system, 18 inches or 19 inches alloy wheels, heated steering wheel and an analog clock.
Also, this beauty sports a floor and rear seat console for storage, memory functions for all seats, an auto defogging system, remote window operation, LED room lamps, LED mood lamps, smart air conditioning system, electric rear door curtains, driver attention alert, and much more.
Oh well… let’s continue. Leather upholstery, a wireless charging pad, Bluetooth Connectivity, navigation voice controls, satellite and HD radio and a 17-speaker premium sound system are also part of the deal.
At the wheel
The V6 engine will suffice for those who are seeking a car with a more than average acceleration, and for those who are only looking for a handsome luxury vehicle.
But if you want more, if you want this jewel to devour the highways, if you want it to make you feel almighty and powerful (sort to speak, of course) you’ll have to go with the bigger engine, the V8.
It is a balanced car, with a fair steering feel and responsive transmission and breaking system.
So… for the plain mortals, I’ll say that the V6 is enough. But if you are a petrolhead that also is looking for elegance and poise, go with the V8.
‘Armed to the teeth’ with a plethora of features, elegant and beautiful exterior and two very robust choices of engines, make the 2019 Genesis G90 a car that is not to be missed by the luxury sedan loving crowd. An impeccable vehicle.
