As all the rugged, hard-working truck enthusiasts surely know, the GMC Sierra and the Chevrolet Silverado are ‘cousins’.
They are pretty much the same when it comes to the ‘inside’ -engines, mechanics, power, fuel economy- but when it comes to the outside and general looks, the Silverado is the cousin that lives in the coutryside, working hard at the farm and fields; while the Sierra is the one that lives in the city, among construction sites and also being used as a family vehicle.
The Sierra also has a major emphasis on its image, looks and design, being ‘the classy one’ of the pair; and fully redesigned, the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 is not only a handsome, but very efficient and dynamic vehicle.
It is available in six different trims: Base, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4 and Denali.
Variety of engines
With the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500, we have four engines at our disposition, depending on the trim.
There’s a 4.3 liter V6, that reaches 285 horsepower and 305 pound-feet of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, for the Base and SLE trims.
Now, the SLE trim can also be equipped with a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine, that offers 310 hp and 348 lb-ft of torque.
Next trim, the SLT, unleashes a behemoth of an engine, with a 5.3 liter V8 that gives us 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque.
If this is not enough, you can also (optionally) equip this trim with a huge 6.2 liter V8 that bursts out 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, mated to a 10 speed automatic transmission.
Talking about the accessories, the base trim offers traits such as Bluetooth and USB connectivity, a six-speaker sound system, power windows, a 7-inch touchscreen interface, 17-inch steel wheels, automatic xenon headlamps, power locks, and much more.
There is an optional package called the Sierra Convenience package, that can be added to the base trim, offering keyless entry, heated power mirrors, a 110-volt AC outlet, LED cargo box lighting and more.
If you step up to the Elevation trim, you’ll get the items that I just mentioned, and also LED foglights, body-colored exterior trim and 20-inch black alloy wheels.
Going to the SLE trim, you get a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an upgrader 8 inch touchscreen and 17 inch alloy wheels.
The SLT trim is notable for adding a trailer brake controller and a trailering package.
The next to last trim, the AT4, has standard four-wheel drive, skid plates, 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, hilld descent control and more.
The crown jewel is the Denali trim, that comes with pretty much everything above, plus a rear view camera, 20 inch wheels, heads-up display and much more.
There is a bunch of optional packages and different bed configurations, that you can ask about to your favorite GMC dealer.
Behind the wheel
The GMC Sierra has been around more than 20 years now… and there is a reason (oh well, lots of reasons) for it.
The V8 engines are the big, full hearts that pump power away in this pickup truck. Want to move a heap of bricks, furniture to your new apartment or just hang out at the beach with your bae and friends or the whole family? This truck does it all.
You can trust this truck, its power and drivabilty, no doubt about it.
Also, not only is very equipped, base wise, but also there is a wide array of optional accesories that make it a very complete, useful vehicle.
With a competitive ‘team’ of engines to choose from, flawless design and ‘armed-to-the-teeth’ configurations and accesories, the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 is the ‘go-to’ truck for those that want a vehicle that will solve all their needs -while looking stunning doing it.
