The 2018 BMW X2 is a breath of fresh (and luxurious) air in the overcrowded and competitive SUV market. The Sport Utility Vehicle segment has become synonym of roomier spaces, practicality and, to an extent, simplicity.
And while the 2018 BMW X2 doesn’t separate itself from those concepts, it can be defined more as a vehicle mainly driven by class, elegance and, as I said before, luxury; than the down to earth feel of the common SUVs.
On its cabin, you can find the handsomeness and high quality materials that are to be expected from the German carmaker. Also, you’ll also find a vehicle that has a plethora of devices that will prove it as useful from several standpoints. And on its exterior, it just has a look that turns heads at every corner.
Trustworthy, gas saving engine
A subcompact luxury crossover, the 2018 BMW X2 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, that delivers 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.
An eight-speed automatic transmission is the only transmission available.
Nevertheless, we can choose this vehicle either with a front-wheel-drive (called sDrive28i) or all-wheel-drive (denominated xDrive28i).
According to the Enviromental Protection Agency, the 2018 BMW X2 delivers a fuel economy of 21 miles per gallon in the city and 31 miles per gallon in the highway, with the all-wheel drive; while the sDrive28i helps to improve these numbers a little bit, by delivering 23/32.
From the get go, the 2018 BMW X2 indulges us with a bold, very complete set of accessories. There is no need for more trims. There is no need to look somewhere else. We have everything we need (and more) with the ‘bare’ X2.
From the practical, day to day use point of view, we have devices such as a rearview camera, push-button ignition, automatic wipers, a power liftgate, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and fog lights, driver-seat memory settings, a leather-wrapped tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and Bluetooth connectivity.
And from an ambience stand point, it offers us simulated leather upholstery, ambient interior lighting and dual-zone automatic climate control, among other traits.
Communications and entertainment are also covered, with BMW’s ConnectedDrive services, a 6.5-inch touchscreen, a seven-speaker audio system with HD radio, a CD player and a USB port and the iDrive infotainment interface.
Let’s say that this device list is not enough. Let’s say that you want more… well, you’ll get more.
You can add up the Convenience package (keyless entry, power-folding mirrors, panoramic sunroof, satellite radio, etcetera) or the Premium package (8.8-inch touchscreen, navigation system, heated steering wheel and front seats and more).
You want more, you say? You can also get the M SportX package, that adds trait such as 19-inch wheels and a sport-tuned automatic tranmission; or the Driving Assistance package, with lane departure warning and other safety systems.
There are also individual options. You will get a 2018 BMW X2 that adapts to your needs. You just will.
Powerful, enjoyable ride
Leave your cares behind and just take the wheel. There is a fun, powerful ride to enjoy.
As we previously checked, a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine gives its ‘heart beat’ to this beauty. That being said, this engine has enough omph not to just a move a vehicle this big, but also to make it agile and dynamic.
We have gone through its devices and accesories list, and the only thing left to say is -with the risk of being redundant- that this beauty is packed with features, that give its competitors (such as the Audi Q3 and the Jaguar E-Pace) a run for their money.
If you want an SUV that balances luxury, practicality, confort and class, look no further. The 2018 BMW X2 has everything you demand: Beauty inside and out, a wide array of devices and a powerful and trustworthy engine that will take you anywhere you need to go and beyond.
